The aircraft went down at approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 9, in a yard on the 9100 block of Maytisde Street.
According to NBC Washington, the helicopter was being used to survey power lines.
A 911 caller said that the helicopter landed in her backyard. When firefighters arrived at the scene, sure enough, the small helicopter had made an emergency landing.
Both occupants had self-extricated, firefighters said.
The Maryland State Police, National Transportation Safety Board, and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
